Why the bitterness? Look and listen around you. Performing cover songs is a major industry these days!! Iskala is the only cover song we play, everything else is original...we recorded it because fundamentally we like it, and like Zemfira....is that such a bad thing?? No-one in the UK knows Zemfira so we were never trying to gain anything from her fame here (because she doesnt have any)..its a good song worth playing, end of story.
A Russian journalist found us, and we didnt promote the song or ourselves in Russia or Kazakhstan...journalists like a story...try and see that, and how they use what they have at their disposal to make a story. It got your attention..so it worked!!!
As for copyright..do you bitch about Madonna using Abba riffs or Leona Lewis recording a Snow Patrol song??! eh, probably not. Dont you worry, your precious Zemfira's copyright is protected. Our music is and legally registered including the fact that Zemfira wrote it. Understand before casting stones young man..
Gulzhan speaks Russian and not Kazakh..most folk in the UK wouldnt know about the history of Kazakhstan. They think everyone is wearing pantaloons and carrying Kalashnikovs..ignorant, but true.
Thats some stuff about her, its not negative or positive...its information, man. We could omit the fact that she is Kazakh but she's proud of her nationality. I'm Scottish but speak English..same thing yeh?

Lighten up man...music is to be enjoyed..if you dont like the song change the channel or switch it off...criticism is not good when you have no idea the amount of effort and sacrifices bands make all over the world to make music and play gigs...big bands, small bands. Read an article about you guys in a local yellow-press paper. What can I say? Nothing special, you did not invent anything new. Simply borrowed Zemfira's song which is now your major "hit". You mentioned you tried to contact her manager, it's very simple to do it. You instead contacted a guy in London involved in recording Islala. Tell us if it is a violation of Zemfira's copyright or you are trying to introduce Scots to the Russian music? OK, when Iskala will burn out, will you guys borrow another her superhits? The website also says that the front women speaks Russian, not Kazakh. I would then say that it is not professionally written. Try to be positive, speaking Kazakh is an advantage, not disadvantage. Or even do not state this. She's an ethnic Kazakh married to a Scot. Why not? But you should have omitted this statement regarding inability to speak Kazakh.

Hello!I was very surprised when I heard that some british band made a remix of "Искала".I've listened to it, and it was rather unusual to hear russian words in it,why have you decided to leave these words in russian?I think, would be better to sing it all in English,because for me,as a Russian speaker,it sounds a bit strange))But,of course,it was a great idea to re-sing this song and to make Zemfira more popular in your country!And one more question - what russian music is popular in the UK?Do you know such band as "Ночные снайперы"?
